In a police state full of repression, lack of civil liberties, how is one able to overcome, resist, stand fast? Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman), caught out after curfew, gets on the government’s radar after V’s (Hugo Weaving) actions against the powers that be. Her job in television is in jeopardy when V gets stopped escaping by Dascomb (Ben Miles) after his pirate broadcast by macing the government lad. It all starts with small incidents spread by rumour.

I could teach Van Wilder (Ryan Reynolds) a thing or two. I spent eight years at university. Mind you, I got a degree and almost had a second one while Van spends seven years as an undergrad. But it is always a dilemma whether to get out into the world or stay in the familiar cocoon of school. You can always find a party, friends are everywhere and nobody much bothers you as long as you pay your fees and don’t fail too often. But sometimes looking over the fence, you see what more life in the world has to offer and it comes down to deciding whether to return and register or find a job. But it means asking what’s out there that you can’t get in here? Well, there’s Gwen Pearson (Tara Reid) for one.

It is never a good idea to piss off a woman, especially one who carries weapons. Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale) is preparing to go after the vampires as she sheathes a sword, slips a knife into a boot sheathe, checks and holsters a pistol, grabs a pointy hammer and strides with determination towards the castle keep. Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) sprays her with a knockout gas and, when she awakes, she goes looking for him.

Siblings have a connection to one another that exceeds the usual. They seem to know when one is about to do something, to finish each other’s sentences, to sense what the others are feeling and to anticipate what is happening in their life. Jessica Garrett (Monika Schnarre) is in the kitchen chatting with her two remaining sisters when she experiences a flash of insight and begins seeing bits and pieces of her dead sister, Gabrielle’s (Carrie Stevens) life just days just before her murder. With the flashes of insight and the help of her other sisters, Katherine (Erika Eleniak) and Brenda (Brenda Epperson Doumani), she realizes she may be able to figure out where her sister spent her time and to track down her killer.

I used to do quite a bit of traveling. It involved staying in all manner of hotel and motel. One I remember fondly had rooms the size of strip mall stores and all its furniture was arrayed along the wall. I could have held a floor hockey game in the middle. But at least it was clean. Not like the room that David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox (Kate Beckinsale) occupied when stranded along some forgotten rural route. At least they had some entertainment in the form of a VCR. Sadly, they were tapes of the murders of the previous room occupants.
