The Aviator

Some times money can’t get you anything or anyone you want. As much as you’re willing to spend, people still decide that you can’t buy them. Maybe you can rent for awhile though. Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) is smitten by Ava Gardner (Kate Beckinsale) and tries to buy his way into her life. But hers is already a rich one. She is, however, willing to compromise by letting him buy her dinner.

Blade: Trinity

What frightens you the most? For Hannibal King (Ryan Reynolds) it is being turned into a vampire a second time. Danica Talos (Parker Posey) offers to revamp a captive Hannibal but he demurs. Danica isn’t about to be denied. She suggest he could use more fish omega fatty acids in his diet. He is more concerned about the odd design she has chosen for her hair and his SBD garlic farts. That Hannibal is quite the card. She retorts that, despite his bodily gases, he is going to be turned, left alone for days and then she plans to let little Zoe (Haili Page), the eight-year-old daughter of his colleague, visit while the hunger is upon him.

I, Robot

There are moment in time when it seems as if everything stops, waiting for you to take a decision. The details coalesce in your mind and you know instinctively which is the proper way. They may defy logic and all vestige of common sense. But it is the right one at the right time. Sadly, you may not be the one in control of the circumstances and the choices are made for you. All you can do go along. Del Spooner’s (Will Smith) car is involved in a car accident with another car holding a twelve-year-old girl who wants to be a dentist and a truck which slams both vehicles into the river. A nearby robot comes to effect their rescue and it chooses Del (it calculates a 45 percent chance of his survival) over the girl (11 percent chance). Tragically, he dreams that the robot made the wrong choice.

The Last Shot

There have been times when I’ve found myself sharing a table in a restaurant with people I barely know. The chatter about the table has been boisterous, raucous, intense and unnerving. But talk of bodily fluids has always remained in the context of humour. Emily French (Toni Collette) is so excited to get the movie part of Charlotte when Joe Devine (Alec Baldwin) and Steve Schats (Matthew Broderick) offer it to her that she grabs a glass off the table. She slips it under her skirt to fill it for a drug test, should they want her to take one, and plunks it back onto the table, spattering her dinner companions. Eeeuuuwww…

The Last Run

It is easy to get lost. All it takes is a wrong turn and you find yourself looking around and wondering what happened and how you got to this point. Just as Steven Goodson (Fred Savage). He took the advice of his friend Jack Manning (Steven Pasquale), went on a tear after dumping his cheating girlfriend Chloe (Andrea Bogart) and turned into a hound of the first stripe. Now he’s broke, fired from his job and sniffing around any girl that will give him the time of day. One night, he runs into Amelia (Erinn Bartlett), an old high school chum he was too shy to date, and finds himself ambivalent over whether he wants to see her again or seduce her on the spot. Maybe he has run out of steam.
