Kinky Boots

When you’ve been an odd lad for most of your adult life, shunned by your family, ostracized by your neighbours, slagged by people on the street, it is always a surprise when you encounter someone who doesn’t care, treats you like just another person and doesn’t seem to notice how different you are. Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor) takes a bed-sit and the landlady,Mrs. Cobb (Gwenllian Davies), doesn’t seem to notice him in drag or not until one day she asks if he is a man so she’ll know whether to leave the toilet seat up.

Thank You for Smoking

What happens when you finally find that you’re really good at something but that something is considered morally reprehensible in the eyes of many? Find another job? That’s not so easy when you’ve already been tainted. Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart) is the face and the voice of “Big Tobacco.” He’s tasked by the Colonel (Robert Duvall), tobacco’s grand poobah, to bribe the original Marlboro man, Lorne Lutch (Sam Elliott), into clamming up over his condemnation of tobacco as the cause of his lung cancer. Nick offers him a choice of either keeping the cash or giving it away publicly on news TV to selected charities and continuing his struggle. Not an easy choice for a dying man.

Waiting

I learned at an early age not to send anything back to a restaurant kitchen. You know that they will do something to muck up your meal. And you’ll never know what it is. You’ll wonder if the put something in it, on it or made a substitution. Just watch what happens to the meal sent back by a cranky patron. They add gravy (boogers) and garlic salt (dandruff) to the steak to supplement the taste delight in store for the complainant. She’s happy to dig right in.

The Russian Specialist

What does it take to kill some guys? Sasha (Ivan Petrushinov), a Russian gangster, is left lying inside his car with a bullet through his head. It was put there by Nick Cherenko (Dolph Lundgren) who, after the killing of his wife and son in a firefight, popped him and fled to the USA. Now maybe seven years later, he is approached by a woman who wants him to rescue her daughter who has been kidnapped and sold into a white slavery ring run by none other than the aforementioned Sacha. Nick has some ideas that he’d like to try out to make sure that he is able to put Sasha down permanently.
