Mr. Deeds

How much can you stomach in the way of cheap comments about what you do and how you do it in order to maintain a polite veneer? Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) is at dinner with several New York cognoscenti when his poetry as a part-time greeting card writer is mocked. He is too polite to react as he’s in the company of Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) but when she says she thinks they deserve what’s coming to them. He turns around and punches one out, slams another’s head into a table and drops a third through a table before paying off for the damages.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Did you ever just want to break into song in public? I sure do. I only wish I could carry a tune.

George Downes (Rupert Everett) is at a wedding rehearsal dinner with his friend Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) who is attending the nuptials of Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney) and Kimmy Wallace (Cameron Diaz). He starts into “I Say a Little Prayer” and each of the guests joins in until the whole table is singing along. I don’t know about you but I was singing along with them.

The Muse

All agreements should be fair to both parties. But there aren’t any rules about how you get to that stage. Steven Philips’s (Albert Brooks) career has tanked without him even noticing. He needs help so he decides to solicit the guidance of a muse, Sarah Little (Sharon Stone). In return for her help, Steven has to provide her with food and shelter. Back and forth, they spar. She wants this, he’s willing to provide that. While negotiating, Sarah looks as if he’s kicked a puppy and Steven looks as if somebody squeezed his heart.

The Marine

Taking a spouse hostage isn’t something that should be undertaken lightly. Rome (Robert Patrick) and his gang of thugs decide the arrival of a cop during a gas tank fill-up whilst escaping from a jewel heist is bad karma and shoot him. They grab Kate Triton (Kelly Carlson), stuff her in the car and blow up the gas pumps expecting to kill her husband John (John Cena). Nope, he’s in hot pursuit and darn cranky.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Jealousy can be so unattractive. Hannah Lewis (Anna Faris) has cut her finger and her colleague Matt Lewis (Luke Wilson) licks it clean to prevent infection. Jenny aka G-Girl (Uma Thurman) shows up and displays a fit of green envy and domination by her lip-lock on Matt. It’s furthered at dinner when Jenny refuses to save the world because Hannah’s date had a thong emergency at his photo shoot.
