I’ve been interviewed a number of times for newspapers and been peripheral to events in other stories. It is always a vague disappointment when they fail to get the details correct. Indeed, it got to the stage where I’d pass on chances to talk to the media for fear that they’d orient any commentary to their particular agency’s agenda. When that meanie TV reporter Heather Jasper-Howe (Alicia Silverstone) corners Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and twists his words around, I felt nothing but empathy for the poor sod. At least in my case, the reporter didn’t stick their mic in my face. I dread to think how they would have cut the video I did.

What does it take to make a stand? How do we decide to do it and stick to it? Would something like a visit from the IRS make us change our mind? Maybe. But it might depend upon who is sent to deliver the message. Ana Pascal (Maggie Gyllenhaal) is confused about her reaction to Harold Crick (Will Ferrell), an IRS agent. Despite the audit and the work he has to do, she finds she likes him. But she’s adamant that the 78 percent of the taxes she has paid is sufficient as she doesn’t want to pay the rest which she believes will go to national defense, corporate bailouts and political campaign funding.

After Smith (Clive Owen) and Donna Quintano (Monica Bellucci) elude their pursuers for the umpteenth time, they find themselves drawn to one another. In the throes of erotic ecstasy, their door flies open and a gun starts blazing. The two of them remained joined at the hip, rolling off the bed with Smith firing away. Have you ever noticed how doing something nice for someone will sometimes rebound back and bite you? Mind you, the reason for doing the kindness may be selfish. In which case you should ask yourself whether it is worth doing in the first place. Genevieve Le Plouff (Piper Perabo) is a French exchange student recruited by Starla Grady (Jane McGregor) to pump up her prestige in a small texas high school. Little does she realize how this interloper is going to change Starla’s standing from teen queen to jailhouse princess in a matter of weeks. But then this beret-wearing, accent-slipping, boy stealing, bumptious cheerleading Genevieve isn’t quite who she says she is.

It only takes a moment to decide someone is right for you. It only takes another to realize you’ve made a mistake. When and how it happens is often mercurial. Chris (Amanda Peet) is dating Tom Bartlett (Sean Patrick Flanery). She has downloaded her daytimer into his office computer. They’re having lunch at Southern Cross, a restaurant run by Amanda Shelton (Sarah Michelle Gellar). But after only a mouthful of food Chris knows it’s time and thinks Tom is a controlling asshole. Upset at this turn, she burps, checks her tits, breaks a few plates and walks out. One heck of an exit.
